The Institute is distinctive because of our absolute priority of working in partnership with services to ensure that their workers have the skills needed to do the job.

We are a Registered Training Organisation approved by the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) as a national Community Services and Health Skills Centre. Our work is based on many years of experience in the specialist provision of education and training to agencies and workers in Community Services, Health, Justice and other human service areas.

From our foundations, as part of the former Centre of Personal Education (COPE), we have developed a strong reputation for providing vocational education and training programs. With over 12 years experience as a Registered Training Organisation our education and training is flexible, high quality, responsive to industry needs and is trusted by both workers and employers.

We are a division of Relationships Australia (SA), the largest non-aligned provider of relationship and family support services in South Australia.

Relationships Australia (SA) has 60 years of experience and is part of a national network which provides services in over 110 locations across the country. This backing provides a unique opportunity for the Institute to collaborate in the area of social relationships and ensure that we are in touch with a range of community issues.

We are able to offer:

  • Highly specialised education and training (e.g. cultural awareness, domestic violence, mental health issues in community work)
  • Education and training that recognises and values the existing knowledge and skills of people, whether or not they have formal qualifications
  • Training that meets diverse learning needs and styles
  • On- and off-the-job training for maximum flexibility in accommodating people’s needs.

We are committed to creating and sustaining a learning culture that is professionally and individually empowering for everyone who participates in it. Our staff are highly skilled. Collectively they bring rich and diverse work experience to their roles in the Institute. With its clear focus on training, the Institute is able to commit significant resources to ensuring that we maintain strong links with industry services as well as with state and national training initiatives. We are key partners in the development of nationally significant education and training in areas including children and domestic violence, public health, community development, community education, youth work and working with HIV/AIDS.

We are committed to achieving excellence in our work and we are actively engaged in processes that enhance and maintain a strong, inclusive and vibrant learning culture. We believe that in collaboration with workers, consumers, agencies and other key stakeholders, we will develop a learning community that will make a significant contribution to excellent service delivery both within South Australia and nationally. We invite you to become a part of this exciting venture.
