Training and educating Youth Workers
The Institute has a long history of developing training for youth workers across South Australia.
We believe that the people who work with some of our most disadvantaged young people need to develop specific knowledge and skills and have the confidence to apply them, so that they can provide services and respond appropriately to young people. We specialise in training that is targeted to students that work in unique situations.
Our trainers are highly experienced in supporting people by identifying their learning needs and styles and adapting the training accordingly.
The following programs in youth worker training are currently available:
In addition, the Institute can provide short courses tailored to specific work contexts within the community services. Popular in service training courses in working with youth has been Responding to Crisis as well as Facilitating Cooperative Behaviour.
We also train young people to become
peer educators and to develop formal skills so that they can be peer educators and mentors within their communities. These young people participate in training that can result in nationally recognised qualifications.
