VELG Training Conference

More than 2000 people attended the annual VELG Training National VET Conference in Brisbane this year, taking part in two full days of training sessions and masterclasses. The conference was an opportunity for educators to network with others in the sector and share ideas, knowledge and best practices…

The Australian Institute of Social Relations Manager, Iain Henderson, and Educator, Sharon Lawrence represented the Institute at the event, which is Australia’s biggest and most popular conference dedicated to the VET learning sector.

“There aren’t many conferences that focus purely on VET learning, so being able to attend the VELG Training Conference is really useful,” Sharon said.

“Not only did we get to hear from some highly engaging and informing speakers, we also got to network and share ideas with others in the industry, which we don’t get to do very often being in Adelaide.”

The conference will be held in Adelaide for the first time in 2015, and is set to be bigger and better than ever.

“Being in our hometown, we’ll have the opportunity to send more of our staff to the event,” Sharon said.

“We’re also hoping to present a training session, potentially around cultural fitness, which is a topic we’re all very passionate about at the Institute.”
