Qualifications in Counselling

The knowledge and skills developed in these courses will enable you to work effectively with people of all backgrounds to improve their personal, psychological or financial wellbeing. You will have the practical and theoretical skills to establish and maintain positive and constructive client relationships. Your specialist expertise will enable you to recognise and respond appropriately to the full range of issues that present in a counselling environment.

Employment opportunities

Counselling graduates will be qualified to work in a variety of community services settings. This could include; counsellor, case manager and support and liaison roles in community, education, healthcare, government and private sector organisations.

Those who specialise in Financial Counselling will be qualified to gain employment as a financial counsellor in a range of organisations and settings, including non-government agencies in community settings across urban, regional and rural sectors.

Relationship Counselling graduates, will already have a Counselling degree (or equivalent), will be able to pursue many areas of counselling:

  • Family Counsellor
  • Couple and Family Counsellor
  • Relationship Counsellor
  • Marriage Counsellor
  • Post Separation Counsellor
  • Child and Family Counsellor

Course delivery, tuition fees and payment options

All courses are 12 months full-time (not including work placement hours).

Counselling and Relationship Counselling are delivered via blended learning: a mix of online learning and face-to-face classroom sessions. Financial Counselling is 100% online.

Various payment options available. Counselling and Financial Counselling (not Relationship Counselling) are on the approved list of courses for Vet Student Loans. Check your eligibility here. Diploma of Counselling (CHC51015)

This program has 10 face-to-face workshop and assessment days and 9 evening lectures. Final assessment times are to be negotiated on Friday’s during November/December. This program is equivalent to 10 to 15 hours of study per week via self-directed learning online.

Full fee is $7,500.

15 face-to-face classroom contact days. This program is equivalent to 10 to 15 hours of study per week via self-directed learning online.
