Introducing Marte Meo

This short course will support participants to learn the foundational concepts of Marte Meo, a social emotional developmental support program. Marte Meo is a practical approach that supports children’s social and emotional development through everyday communication.

Over a full day, participants will be introduced to the basic elements of Marte Meo to support children’s social and emotional development and to use these elements in their own daily practice in interactions with their clients. This course introduces concepts used around the world by many professionals including early childhood educators, social workers, paediatricians, nurses, occupational therapists, speech therapists and physiotherapists.

Introducing Marte Meo training is useful to anyone interested in hearing about the foundational elements of Marte Meo. It is particularly suited to people from the child and family sectors, as well as early childhood education, disability and aged care. Established in over 40 countries, Marte Meo is valued because it helps to reduce aggression, helps children become more focused and improves relationships with family – as it focuses on supporting social and emotional development.

Presenter Sally Watson, began her training in 2008 with Maria Aarts, the developer of Marte Meo. She was appointed a Licensed Marte Meo Supervisor by Maria in 2012. She is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with over 40 years experience in the human services sector With this depth of experience she is able to guide you through an interactive and enjoyable day.

This 1 day course is the first step towards achieving International Accreditation as a Marte Meo Practitioner. You can do it as a standalone day or go onto do the remaining 5 days of the Supportive Communication Skills training to achieve Marte Meo Practitioner Certification.
